Global Bioethics Initiative (GBI) co-sponsored by New York Medical College welcomes students and professionals worldwide to attend two special bioethics summer programs, in Manhattan New York, USA (June 19-30, 2017) and Dubrovnik, Croatia (June 19-25, 2017). The program is hosted by Pace University, College of Health professions, Manhattan campus.
Participants interested or working in the life-sciences, medicine, law, public policy, health care industry and biotechnology sectors, among them, are encouraged to take part in this the unique educational and collaborative experience.
Both programs include a series of lectures and seminars by notable faculty, unique field trips, film screenings, evening events with guest speakers open to public and a mini conference prior to the graduation ceremony. The lectures cover a wide range of important topics with global impact and relevance. Controversial issues such as embryonic stem cell research, cloning, gene therapy, end-of life decision making, genetics, reproductive technologies, research on human subjects, as well as organ transplantation and access to health care, are presented.
Who can apply?
Applicants do not need to have a background in bioethics. Students (including senior high school) and professionals, e.g. medical dhttp://summerschool.g lobalbioethics.org/faculty/oct ors, nurses, policy makers, lawyers and journalists are eligible to apply..
Partial Scholarships for low-income country residents & Continuing Medical Educatiom credits are available trough NYMC. This activity has a maximum of 65 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ credits.
*One (1) AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ is equivalent to one (1) hour of European EACCME Credit (ECMEC©)

About Global Bioethics Initiative
Global Bioethics Initiative (GBI) is a not-for-profit international educational organization founded in 2011. GBI keeps the international community, policy decision-makers, the media, and the public informed about important bioethical issues through educational activities, including annual summer school on global bioethics. Many of the issues addressed by GBI are relevant to the work of the United Nations, including reproductive and sexual rights, human organ trafficking, and the ethics of population aging. GBI is associated with the United Nations Department of Information (UNDPI) and enjoys special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
